Quick Tecra M4 Update for May 21, 2005

Saturday, May 21st, 2005
The new Tecra's growing on me. I've been loading software all evening from my eMack configuration. (MS Office, OneNote, Project, Visio, MindManager, ResultsManager, etc.) Next step is to make a ghost image and then load all of my productivity utilities (Activewords, etc..) Once I get everything loaded, I'll switch over to the M4 full-time.

I've not loaded any Tablet PC specific productivity applications yet, though I have  a growing list of software I plan to evaluate. Right now, my priority is migrating my applications and data to the new machine.

Kathy joined me on this podcast, so the discussion is a little less tech than you've come to expect from me. I'll let you decide whether I should bring Kathy back.

This comment is for Kathy- you are absolutely correct that the pop filter is a hoop with pantyhose and here's a link that describes how to make one yourself:

Great podcast, Eric and Kathy.

Kathy was great. My wife Amy ({ Link } ) actually listened to and enjoyed the podcast with me. This would have been an impossable feat had it been only you Eric.

(a) the PowerBook (I didn't buy the iBook) has NO stickers from advertisers. It's one clean & crisp looking silver bullet. My Toshiba Satellite M20 (purchased March 2004) only has 3 stickers, plus one inprinted phrase for the speaker manufacturer.

(b) glad to hear that the home schooling display on NZ went well. Our family enjoys kiwifruit too (which you guys just call "kiwi").

(c) yes, I'm looking forward to seeing this new M4 in a couple of weeks.

Eric, it is eery that your eMack software kit is the same as my own. I add ritePen to mine for the added HWR utility. I don't currently use ResultsManager yet but am scheduled for an evaluation soon.

What a wonderful couple!

Great chemistry! I loved Kathy's sincere honesty and Eric's down-to-the-point descriptions... Both personalities enhanced each other and made the podcast a very interesting one (informative and funny at the same time!).

To answer Ahmed question posted above, to make a ghost copy of your PC, you would need a software for copying images (such as Symantec's "Ghost") which will enable you to make an exact copy of your hard drive contents so you would be able to restore it without having to re-install each of your applications.

I have really enjoyed your podcasts Eric. I say keep Kathy and the kids involved!!!

A year ago, I was strugling between a tablet and a Powerbook. I went with the powerbook as I was already a mac user, but the tablet formfactor appeals to me. Really hope that Apple releases one soon.

Definitely keep Kathy! She keeps a potentially very dry technospeak presentation lively. I really appreciated your daughters' questions during the out of box experience, because I am looking into purchasing a M4 and they asked a lot of the simple questions I've wondered myself.
