I'm having a hard time finding the answer to this, so I'll ask the community.
The dock for the Lenovo T60p has a Dual-Link DVI output, and I can presently drive a Dell 24" LCD panel at 1900x1200.
For extreme mind mapping, I want to drive a Dell 30" display at 2560x1600 from my ThinkPad T60p.
The T60p has a ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 chipset, which as best as I can tell should work at 2560x1600.
Of course, I'd like some assurance before I move on this. If anyone has done this, please let me know.
Meanwhile, I'll continue to research.

I have a 30" display from another manufacturer (same resolution), and I can assure you that the T60p will push the pixels just fine. I can't speak to the stock T60, but it's likely that it would work as well. The one caveat is that you need to make absolutely sure you use a dual-link DVI cable. A single-link cable cannot handle the bandwidth required to push 2560x1600.

Interesting that you are able to connect with a "native" connection. I've seen mixed reviews with other laptops.
However...
Another thing you could try:
The thinkpad Advanced Dock has a PCI-Express Slot. I believe IBM/Lenovo is the only brand that has a real PCI-Express slot. You should be able to squeeze in just about any graphics card you desire.

Thanks for your response over email recently. I can confirm the following combination that I ended up getting works with 2560 x 1200 resolution:
- Lenovo T60p widescreen (ATI FireGL card)
- Lenovo Advanced min-dock
- 30" Apple Cinema Display
- Running Vista Business
The trick was to make sure I had the display on the big lcd only...when I have dual display then I get a much lower resolution.

Eric! Are you (have you) really driven your external monitor to 1920 x 1200 with your DVI output? What do I have to do to make this work?
When I set my res. to 1920 x 1200, my monitor reports it's getting a 1600 x 1200 signal and I see a clipped display.
The Acer utility running on the laptop says all the right things about the monitor.
OS = Win XP

Yes, I drive my 30" monitor. Works, great. BUT I had to update my video drivers to get it to work. I originally had the same problems that you describe.

FINALLY.
I am now running 1920x1200 on the DVI-D output of the Advanced Dock (not mini-dock, fwiw) on my T60p (1600x1200 Laptop LCD, ATI FireGL V5200) to Acer P241W.
I am not sure how stable this will be. I.e., will it reliable boot up this way?
My recipe includes installing latest driver + ATI Catalyst Control Center from Lenovo.com and uninstalling the Acer monitor software.
There's a new version there from when I first wrote. Also never had Catalyst software before and maybe that helps.
