Mind Mapping A Whole New Mind

I've just finished watching Dan Pink present "A Whole New Mind," using MindManager and WebEx. For just over an hour, Dan presented concepts from his best-selling book.

I enjoyed Dan's presentation for two reasons. first, the topics presented in Dan's book are eye opening.
The future belongs to a very different kind of person with a very different kind of mind. The era of "left brain" dominance, and the Information Age that it engendered, are giving way to a new world in which right brain qualities - inventiveness, empathy, meaning-predominate. Value shifts from Information to Conceptualization, and the way in which people work shifts with it.
Our world is not the same as the one that our grandparents experienced, perhaps not even the one that our parents experienced. Dan offers insight on dramatic shifts that will affect us. He also makes a compelling case for how collaboration and creative thinking will help overcome some of these challenges while creating new opportunities.

The other reason that I enjoyed this presentation is Dan's use of MindManager as a presentation tool for interactive presentations. At first, I was concerned that Dan was getting off to a slow start, but Dan quickly jumped into map-mode in his presentation. I really liked how he integrated his answers to questions right into his map - typing and mapping, and talking in real-time. [Dan needs a Tablet PC.]

Steve Richards, a technologist whose blog I read regularly, recently posted several mind maps of his takeaways from the book. Be sure to take a look at Steve's maps, both for his observations and his creative use of Mind Manager.

Here's the link to the event on WebEx. I believe you can watch the archived presentation.

Here's a link to the MindManager events page. I understand the maps will be posted in a few hours.

Thanks - just picked up the book and will read. Especially like the MindMaps in the event area. Good concise illustration.
