I'm about to let you in on a little secret:
it's that red ball to the right of my ThinkPad.

The Red Ball apparently hails from CDW - the technology reseller. Some history on this page:

Almost at the bottom ... search the page for the word CDW, or just look for the red ball photo. There are some links you can follow that detail how to modify a cube of your own.
